This 300F convertible is owned by Randy Guyer in Minnesota

This Toreador Red Chrysler 300F convertible has been “Barn Found” twice!

Mike Meier of Virginia, Minnesota in 1979 found and pulled it from a warehouse in Santa Paula, California called ‘Movie World’ owned by James Brucker Jr and Danny Brucker [brothers] where it had been stored by Hollywood Movie producers. It was never used in any film that is known, so it just sat there. It was a California ‘black plate’ car. After it’s purchase Mike towed it home using his 1963 Chrysler New Yorker Station Wagon.

Interestingly, it was parked next to the original and authentic Herbie the Love Bug, and a Rolls Royce (one of two) used by the Beatles for touring. Mike told me there were also cars there previously owned/used by Marilyn Monroe, and a car that was used in Laverne & Shirley.

The second time it was ‘barn found’ was by me from Mike’s garage in Virginia, Minnesota in October of 2016 where it had been ever since 1979.

Mike Meier is a friend that I met in 2008 and he showed me the 300F in 2012 but he was not ready to sell it then. I called him in late 2016 to ask again and he replied that he was ready to sell it to fund other projects, and a deal was struck, and the car was pulled out for the first time in 37 years.

According to Chrysler records provided to me by the Chrysler 300 Club International, the car was originally built and used by Chrysler-Imperial division as a “pool car”. I can only assume that it was a demonstrator or salesman’s car before being sold to Movie World, and subsequently to Mike Meier in 1979, and now to me. The pictures tell the rest of the story.

As I write this on 7/9/2019 the car is within just a few days of the completed rotisserie restoration, that has taken nearly 3 years. I have nick-named it “Cherry-Bomb”. I also have a black one that is nick-named “F-Bomb”.
